1994’s offering was a mere warm-up for this tabloid-esque beauty, which, with a few minor changes, lasted for over two years. The Courier had taken inspiration from tabloids since the 1950s, but it was only now that the design of the paper really started to emulate them. During this period the paper was designed on computers using QuarkXPress, then the leading publishing software, before switching (along with much of the newspaper industry) to InDesign in the mid-2000s.
