Mid-way through his year as editor Martin Pollard changed the logo from red to blue and from italic to upright lettering, although denied that this was any reflection of the paper’s political views. The year saw the “paper of the people” celebrate its 50th birthday, launch campaigns against the Vice-Chancellor’s educational reforms and even review campus toilets.
